Review:
6180 The Moon is a simple Platformer originally released on PC in 2013. Players play as the moon (a glowy circle, really) investigating the disappearance of the sun by going through a series of platforming levels.
At first glance, this game is extremely unimpressive – the visuals are all basic geometric shapes that probably took minutes to plug into the game, and the gameplay doesn’t immediately feel all that interesting. This game largely has one gimmick – players can jump extremely high, and the game’s screen wraps vertically, meaning that players must gauge how their jumps will move them as they wrap around the screen.
Despite the game’s extreme simplicity, the gameplay here is surprisingly decent, thanks largely to how well this gameplay hook is incorporated and explored. In each new section of levels, the game adds a new element that further explores the game’s core gameplay.
The presentation is… well, as basic as basic gets. Lazy, even. However, it works well enough for the gameplay, and the chill soundtrack that accompanies the game definitely gives the experience a mellow mood.
6180 The Moon is a pretty short game, beaten within a few hours. That said, it’s also selling for $4, so players shouldn’t feel like it’s much of a risk to give it a try. It’s not the best Platformer ever, and in some areas this game’s designers clearly put in zero effort, but the gameplay is good while it lasts, even if it won’t stick in your memory for very long after that.
tl;dr – 6180 The Moon is a simple Platformer with the gimmick of players jumping super-high on screens that wrap vertically. The game is graphically as simple as it gets, and only lasts for a few hours, but the gameplay is decent and it’s only $4. On the whole this is probably worth a look for fans of the genre.
