Review:
AAA Clock + Cyber Protocol is AAA Clock + Clumsy Rush is a Compilation of the Application AAA Clock, released in 2021, and the Party Game Clumsy Rush released on Nintendo Switch in 2019.
Here is what I thought of each of the titles in this collection:
| Game | Genre | # of Players | Grade |
|---|---|---|---|
| AAA Clock | Application / Arcade | 1 | C |
tl;drAAA Clock is… well, a clock Application. It’s functional and has a decent amount of options, but it’s still just a clock. The included unnamed game is an extremely simple, shallow Arcade-style game that you’ll tire of quickly, leaving you with… well, the clock. $10 is a bit pricey for what’s here, but the frequent sale price of $2 is much more acceptable… if you really need a clock. | |||
| Clumsy Rush | Party Game | 1-2 Competitive (Local Split-Screen) | D |
tl;drClumsy Rush is a Party Game where players play as anthropomorphic overweight hippos trying to grab a crown and waddle with it towards the goal. The whole idea behind this game is that it has terrible controls that the player needs to compensate for, but rather than making things fun, it just makes them frustrating and tedious. What’s more, any Party Game that only supports two players is missing the point. Skip this one. | |||
This is a bit of an odd pairing of titles, and I’m not quite sure what the thinking was behind this. Is this for those who wanted to get Clumsy Rush who would also appreciate a gimmicky clock Application bundled in with it? Is it for those interested in AAA Clock who wanted an actual game to play after they buy it (and not just the shallow unnamed game included with AAA Clock)?
Well, in either case, this bundle seems sure to disappoint, as neither of the included products is especially good. Clumsy Rush is a frustrating Party Game (if you consider only two people a “party”, and AAA Clock is… well, a functional clock, but not much more than that.
In terms of value, buying this bundle at full price will save you one whole dollar off of the prices these two games go for separately. On the bright side, the $2 sale price is the same price that either one of those two games will individually drop to during a sale, so if you’re going to get one of these two games on sale, you might as well get the bundle which amounts to getting one of the two for free.
However, there is one other thing to note here, and that is that the AAA Clock + Cyber Protocol Bundle offers a similar sort of deal, and while Cycer Protocol is a very different sort of game than Clumsy Rush, it is also, I feel, a much better one.
As a result, the only ones I can see AAA Clock + Clumsy Rush appealing to are those who are already committed to getting Clumsy Rush for some reason and who also want AAA Clock, or those who want AAA Clock and who already own Cyber Protocol. Needless to say, that’s a pretty narrow target audience, and I can’t imagine there’s many who fit in that description.
tl;dr – AAA Clock + Clumsy Rush is a Compilation of the clock Application AAA Clock and the Arcade / Party Game Clumsy Rush. Neither of these is very compelling – AAA Clock does what it sets out to do but not much more than that, and Clumsy Rush is a frustrating Party Game that only supports two players. If you are dead-set on getting one of those two titles, this bundle might represent getting an extra title free depending on the sale price… but that still doesn’t make this a very good buy.
