Review:

Air Hockey is, well, an Air Hockey game, where two players take either side of a table and try to hit a puck into the others’ goal, or one player can take on an AI opponent.

First things first, I should mention that this game feels pretty poorly put-together, with sparse menus, no options that I can find, and odd button placement – each player is meant to use one Joy-Con, but the game still has players holding it as if they were using two… but the buttons to select and go back are rotated as if the player were holding the thing sideways… it’s all very odd.

This is paired with a pretty lousy presentation with a game room with low-quality textures on low-poly objects. Oddly, the one thing that does seem to have had some care put into it are the signage for the fake videogames in the background. All of this is paired with an eerily silent game that only has sound when you’re hitting the puck around the table – there’s no music, no environmental sounds, no announcer… it’s kinda’ creepy.

As for the gameplay itself, players are pretty much just using the control stick to move their strikers around, and the controls are so laggy that it renders the whole thing pointless – this isn’t any sort of simulation of air hockey, unless it’s meant to mimick the experience of playing the game in a deserted game room when you’re on the verge of being blackout drunk and you can barely control your own movements.

Suffice it to say, Air Hockey is an absolute disaster. It’s ugly, poorly put together, quiet, with controls so laggy that it defeats the point of the game. Do not buy this.

tl;dr – Air Hockey is an abysmal simulation of the sport, with a horrible presentation, sparse features, and controls so laggy it defeats the purpose of playing the game. Do not buy this game.
