Review:
Art of Balance is a physics-based puzzle game where you have various-shaped blocks you must place on a pedestal or series of pedestals without anything tipping over or falling off. It’s a pretty straightforward concept that’s immediately easy to understand, but it’s still a compelling experience.
This game was previously released on the 3DS and Wii U, and the Switch version comes with a good set of features, including 200 levels, plus co-op and competitive modes. In addition, this version let’s you optionally play using motion controls, although I personally found just using the controller normally to be preferable.
This game was actually pretty impressive to look at on the 3DS, with graphics that presented these puzzles taking place in nice, serene rooms with a pool of water waiting to catch the blocks as they fell. Here, the visuals are much the same but it’s not quite as impressive. It still works, it still looks good, but it’s nothing extraordinary.
In the end though, the gameplay is just as good as it ever was here, and the available game modes give this a bit of added value as a multiplayer game. If this sort of puzzle game appeals to you, Art of Balance will not disappoint.
tl;dr – Art of Balance is a physics-based Puzzle game where you stack blocks and try to keep them from tipping over or falling. This version has a decent amount of content and some multiplayer modes, and the core gameplay here is still as solid as ever.
