Review:

Bad Dream: Fever is a graphic adventure with a style that should be familiar to those who played Bad Dream: Coma. Like that game, it’s dark, grungy, and monochrome. However, Fever seems to be lacking much of the charm that Coma had.

Like Bad Dream: Coma, in Fever you’re playing someone trapped in a terrible dream, though this time the connection between that concept and the game’s plot is a bit less clear. The game’s writing also seems like a step down from the previous game, with grammatical errors and characters speaking in an unnatural manner. This sorta’ stuff made it difficult to remain invested in the game’s plot.

Sadly, the gameplay seems to be a step down from Coma this time too. Where the first game had you trying to wrap your head around the game’s dream logic, this time puzzles are more dull and mundane, which makes the game’s flaws stand out more. You’ll often have to move the cursor over the environment to try to find areas to interact with, and some things are just nonsensical, like how you need to click on an arbitrary point on the screen in arbitrary areas to use the game’s map.

In the end, the lack of imagination, the shoddy language in the game, and the frustration this game’s shortcomings cause make it hard to recommend Bad Dream: Fever. It’s not without its good qualities, but it just isn’t as compelling as Bad Dream: Coma was.

tl;dr – Bad Dream: Fever is a graphic adventure that has you trying to escape a nightmarish monochrome dreamland. Unfortunately, this game isn’t nearly as inventive as Bad Dream: Coma was, the puzzles are more frustrating, and the writing sloppier. You’re better off playing Bad Dream: Coma if you want a game like this.
