Review:

Black Jack, released on Nintendo Switch in 2020, is a Card Game that’s… well, Blackjack. This game was clearly made using the Unity Asset Store asset Blackjack Game, and while it’s not quite so effortless as to be a zero-effort asset flip (the camera angle, table color, and interface are all different), it is pretty close to being an asset flip. In any case, as this game is a classic card game and likely older than anyone currently reading this review, I’ll be focusing mainly on the presentation, features, options, and performance of this game.

The presentation here is extremely minimal. The title screen has some decent-sounding lounge music, but that disappears once you get into the game proper, and the only sounds to be heard are cards moving and a chime when you win. As for the visuals… well, you just get the card table and that’s it. Pretty underwhelming.

The controls here take a bit of getting used to, but once you do, they’re pretty straightforward. Of course, if you’re playing in portable mode, you can opt to use the touchscreen controls instead, but both control methods work well enough.

As for the gameplay… well, it’s blackjack. There aren’t any options here, no multiplayer play, nothing except you, $100 in chips, and a personality-free dealer. That’s it. There’s… really nothing else to say here.

Given how bare-bones this game is, and how clearly very little effort went into creating it after buying the assets, it’s absurd that Black Jack is selling for $10. Even on those occasions when it drops to $2, it still feels a bit overpriced for what’s on offer here. If you need a quick and dirty Blackjack game on Nintendo Switch, this will do the trick, but only if you expect nothing beyond the bare minimum.

tl;dr – Black Jack is just that – Blackjack. This game technically works, but it’s as bare-bones as they come. Given the price this game is selling for, it’s absurd how little effort went into this game. Unless you absolutely need Blackjack on your Nintendo Switch, skip this version of it.
