Review:
Blindy is a Puzzle-Platformer with the main conceit that the character you play can only see terrain after touching it, making finishing a level a puzzle where you’re stumbling through the dark, trying to find the correct path.
Graphically, this game uses basic, unimpressive pixel art graphics and repetitive music. It really is counting on the gameplay to carry this game, and that’s unfortunate because the game could have used its theme to focus more on sound, something not many games do… but no.
So how is the gameplay? In a word, tedious. Shortly into the game, you’ll encounter hazards that kill your character and send you back to the beginning of the level. And since the parts of the level you touch only remain visible onscreen for a few seconds, beating these levels doesn’t just require a lot of trial-and-error, it also requires a lot of memorization.
In the end, while I have to credit Blindy for having an interesting concept, the actual game itself simply isn’t fun to play. The simple, unimpressive presentation and tedious, frustrating gameplay give players little reason to struggle through its challenges, nor do they make full use of the game’s concept. I suggest you skip this game.
tl;dr – Blindy is a puzzle-platformer where your character only sees terrain and obstacles after touching them. It’s an interesting concept, but it’s ruined by tedious gameplay and and underwhelming presentation.
