Genre: Numberlink-style Puzzle
Players: 1

Review:
Block-A-Pix Deluxe is a puzzle game in the vein of the Picross games, although the way puzzles in this game are solved is different. On the game board are a number of colored squares with numbers on them, and these squares must be expanded until they are the size the number indicates. However, the individual boxes can only form the shapes of squares and rectangles – they can’t turn around corners. Knowing this, the player must logic out how to expand the various blocks so that the entire playing field is covered. Doing so creates a picture.
The game is presented with NES-style retro graphics and similarly retro chiptune music. It’s nothing special, but nothing especially distracting or offensive either. It’s just… fine.
In the end, knowing the premise of the game and looking at a few screenshots, it should be easy enough to discern whether or not this sort of game interests you.
In my eyes, Block-A-Pix Deluxe makes for a nice, easygoing, bite-size puzzle game that seems like it would be a good time-waster, especially if you’re bringing the Switch with you on the bus or in a waiting room. Don’t expect anything mind-blowing, but it’s a nice little game for what it’s worth.
tl;dr – Block-A-Pix Deluxe is a nice, easygoing, bite-size puzzle game where you expand blocks to fill the screen and build a picture. It doesn’t do anything especially impressive, but it works as a nice time-waster.
