Bowling is a… you guessed it, a Bowling game. And I try to keep my opening paragraphs in my reviews descriptive but neutral in judgment, so that’s about all I can say here before moving on.

The presentation here is serviceable, but not much more than that. You get a sparse menu that only lets you select the number of players and the appearance of your ball, gameplay devoid of music (at least the menu screen had that), decent but unimpressive visuals depicting the lanes, pins, and ball, and decent enough sound effects. There’s no flair or any attempt at making this engaging, but I suppose what’s here does what it needs to.

As for the gameplay, I don’t know what the heck to even do with this. Players can line up their ball, but not adjust angle or spin. This happens seemingly automatically when you press the button to throw – the game brings up a power meter and when you release your button, the ball flies off in a seemingly random direction. I could not for the life of me figure it out – I touched nothing on the controller, and released it in the middle of the power bar – one time it went slightly off to the left, then next time it flew all the way into the next lane to the right (making a strike in that lane, amusingly).

If the game is going to give this sort of unpredictable output based on what the player is doing, suffice it to say that the game is going to be unplayable. That’s what Bowling on the Nintendo Switch is – an absolutely unplayable game. Don’t waste your money on it.

tl;dr – Bowling is, like the name says, a Bowling game. However, the game has the ball behaving in wildly random ways, to the point that it makes this game unplayable. Do not buy it.
