Braveland Trilogy is a Turn-Based Strategy game with RPG elements set in a medieval fantasy world and fought on a hex-based grid. Despite the name, it’s less a “trilogy” than just one game split into three successive campaigns which cannot be played out of order.
The presentation here is about as generic as it gets. It’s fine, it works, but it doesn’t do much more than that. The cartoony generic-looking characters all give a good indication of what they are and don’t interfere with the gameplay, and the music is appropriately Renn Faire-esque without being memorable in any way.
As for the gameplay, while this is a strategy game, there doesn’t seem to be much strategy here. You take a turn walloping their forces, they take a turn walloping yours. You can try to use range to get the jump on enemies before they can attack you, but far too often it just feels like one big mess.
Braveland Trilogy doesn’t do anything egregiously wrong in delivering a playable strategy game, but it doesn’t really do anything right either. The gameplay doesn’t feel thoughtful, and frankly it’s a bit boring, to go with its boring presentation. There are better games for those looking for this sort of thing on the Switch.
tl;dr – Braveland Trilogy is a Turn-Based Strategy game set in a medieval fantasy world and played on a hex-based grid. It isn’t actually a trilogy but instead three different “chapters” with the same boring, mindless gameplay and forgettable presentation. There’s nothing here especially noteworthy.
