Review:

#Breakforcist Battle is an Arcade-style Brick Breaker with a light-hearted “haunted breakfast” theme and a bright, pastel colors. Players bounce their ball at waffle blocks, some of which are haunted by ghosts, and egg blocks that contain various power-ups, one of which turns your ball into a giant pancake.

The presentation is one of the better parts of this game, with a manic, perky attitude that does a great job to fit this game’s overall tone, accompanied with a similarly fast-paced bubbly Japanesey EDM soundtrack.

However, as much as the game’s presentation fits the gameplay, that fast-paced gameplay is also a large part of what’s wrong with this game. In short, this game’s pace is so fast and frantic that it’s hard to make sense of what’s going on.

There are other issues here as well. While the game’s competitive mode is probably the best part of the game, the co-op mode is terrible, forcing both players to stay on their side of the screen in a way that’s more frustrating than fun. Also, while this game offers optional motion-controls, you should consider yourself extremely grateful that they’re optional, because they are terrible.

In the end, I love the colorful presentation and attitude of #Breakforcist Battle, but its frantic pace makes it really difficult to play, like a massive sugar rush shot straight into your veins. It’s good for a few rounds in competitive play, but if you’re looking for a good Brick Breaker, you’re better off going for something a bit less energetic.

tl;dr – #Breakforcist Battle is an Arcade-style Brick Breaker with a haunted breakfast theme. It has a wonderfully colorful, manic presentation that suits the game well, but the gameplay itself actually feels a bit too manic, to the point where it’s hard to fully understand everything that’s going on. Fans of the genre may enjoy this game, but most are probably better off going with a game that’s less of an assault on the senses.
