.cat Milk is a challenging Platformer released on Nintendo Switch in 2021. The game’s odd title seems to be a combination of the game’s entire goal (you play a cat, trying to grab a saucer of milk and bring it back to their… er, doghouse?) along with a leading period to ensure that this game always comes near the top of alphabetized lists.
The presentation here is okay but nothing special, using pixel art visuals depicting a cat and the cityscape behind them, backed by a repetitive synthesized tune. There’s nothing atrociously bad here, but certainly nothing noteworthy either.
Speaking of “nothing noteworthy”, the gameplay in this game absolutely screams “completely disposable”. Aside from some sharp jumps in difficulty, there’s nothing particularly interesting mechanically going on here. In fact, this is one of those games that has you repeatedly jumping when you hold down the jump button, because of course it does.
All this disposable, poorly-made trash is selling for… seriously, $10? That would be insulting if I thought that anyone would be dumb enough to fall for this cash grab of a game. And yet, it gets worse – a Compilation including this game plus two others, Rafa’s World + Axolotl + .cat Milk, is available for only $0.75, a much more reasonable price, which is bizarre since that bundle also contains two other games. So I guess if you want this game, get that bundle instead, though honestly you’re much better off not playing this game at all.
tl;dr – .cat Milk is a challenging Platformer where players control a cat… trying to get a saucer of milk and return it to their… er, doghouse. This game gives us completely disposable gameplay and level design, saddles it with poor controls, and then has the audacity to try to charge $10 for it. Even more bizarre, the Rafa’s World + Axolotl + .cat Milk bundle that includes this game is only $0.75. With this being the case, absolutely no one should buy this game here, and honestly even if you get that bundle I wouldn’t recommend playing this pointless, bad game.
