Review:
This is a game I love in a port I hate.
Clustertruck is a game with a simple premise. You begin each level standing on the roof of a semi truck in a convoy of semi trucks recklessly speeding in the distance. Your goal is to make it to the stage’s exit by bounding from one truck to the next as they careen over the landscape. Oh, and you’re playing with “the floor is lava” rules.
From that simple concept, you get a game that’s a raucous good time as the game’s physics engine causes massive pile-ups of dozens of semi trucks, creating natural obstacles for you to skillfully run and jump through.
It’s a blast to play… but not quite as much so on the Switch.
I don’t know why I don’t see other reviews mentioning it, but this version of the game has some nasty issues with aliasing and even some framerate dips. The sad thing is, this clashes horribly with the game’s clean, smooth presentation and sours the experience.
I’d still say this is a game well worth playing for fans of fast-paced action and frenetic platforming. But unless you have a need to play it on the go, I’d recommend playing it on a different platform.
tl;dr – Clustertruck is a fast-paced platforming game that has you jumping from the roof of one truck to another as you race to the finish. But the Switch port of the game is really rough, which makes it harder to enjoy.
