Color.Motif is a family-friendly Puzzle game released on mobile devices in 2019, with this Deluxe version ported to Nintendo Switch later the same year with over 500 puzzles. This game has you moving shapes in a kaleidoscopic pattern to try to recreate a geometric shape.

The visuals for this game are extremely simple, with flat-colored geometric shapes and… not much else. There’s a lighthearted soundtrack, but it’s nothing memorable.

As for the gameplay, while it’s fairly unique, it is also absurdly easy. These “puzzles” are barely puzzles at all, as anyone with even the most basic of observational skills should be able to solve them. The game provides three different types of “hints”, but these shouldn’t be necessary for anyone who isn’t the youngest of children. There’s not even a timer to try to beat to improve on an old score… because there are no scores.

At the very least I can give this game credit for selling at the low price of $3.50, but even given the extremely lacking gameplay this manages to be disappointing and underwhelming in multiple ways. Progression in the game is completely locked to one level at a time, unable to skip levels to see later ones, for no apparent reason. Also, despite that this game came from a mobile platform, there are no touchscreen controls… and this is a game that really seems like it would benefit from them.

Unless you are a very, very young child or a complete dunce at puzzles, don’t bother with Color.Motif Deluxe. This is such an absurdly simple Puzzle game that only the most inept players will find any challenge here. Even with the low price, you want to skip this one.

tl;dr – Color.Motif Deluxe is a Puzzle game that has you moving shapes in a kaleidoscopic image to recreate a geometric shape. Unfortunately, this game offers absolutely zero challenge, and even above and beyond that the progression and lack of touchscreen controls sap any remaining fun out of this experience.
