Review:

Colorgrid is a Puzzle game where players must swap around multiple “light canons” to ensure the correct colors are hitting each of the gems in the level.

This game uses a pretty simple, even Spartan, presentation that goes along with some very nice, soothing trance music to make for an overall relaxed mood that works very well for the game. The presentation here clearly aims for this to be a good game to wind down with, and it hits that mark pretty well.

The gameplay here is pretty good at meshing with that relaxing theme, too. There are no timers running, there’s no failing, it’s just “keep working on the puzzle until you get it”. Not that these puzzles are particularly brain-melting – everything here feels pretty self-explanatory, although there are definitely a few that will have you fiddling with things until you discover the answer, and the game does a good job of introducing new elements as you progress through the levels.

For the asking price of $1, Colorgrid’s 70 puzzles seems pretty fair, though you’ll likely blast through them pretty quickly. I would have gladly paid more for a more extensive library of puzzles based on this same gameplay, or for a decent puzzle editor that let players create their own puzzles. However, for one buck, this still makes for a good distraction, and fans of Puzzle games looking for something relaxing to chill with for cheap should definitely give it a look.

tl;dr – Colorgrid is a chill, relaxing easy-to-play Puzzle game that’s over pretty quick, but for the low asking price of $1, it’s a solid distraction that’s well worth that price.

Grade: B
