Review:
Jigsaw Fun: Amazing Animals is a Jigsaw Puzzle game that has players piecing together 100 puzzles featuring various animals. This game was released on Nintendo Switch in 2021.
The presentation here is decent, but uneven. On the one hand, the animal photos the puzzles are made from are good photos with some good variety, players have multiple choices of backgrounds, and the music that plays while you’re piecing together puzzles is reasonably relaxed and befitting this sort of game. On the other hand, it seems like the framerates in this game are distractingly low, which is odd given how little a game like this is asking of the Nintendo Switch’s hardware.
When it comes to the gameplay… this game has issues. Firstly, know that if you’re playing using traditional gamepad controls, the controls are unintuitive and the lag on your controller inputs is pretty horrible. You can opt to play this game using the touchscreen in handheld mode instead, which works better, but then you have to deal with another issue – the small screen makes the details of these images extremely difficult to see, especially if you’re opting to play a puzzle with the maximum number of pieces, 600. Sadly, there are only two levels of zoom here, and it doesn’t make any sense why the game would limit your ability to get close to the picture you need to be looking at to judge where you should place your pieces.
I could detail the features and options here, as well as more flaws this game has (like hiding pieces behind menu buttons), but at this point, why bother? If you literally can’t see the puzzle you’re trying to piece together, the game is fundamentally broken. Jigsaw Fun: Amazing Animals had some potential as a decent Jigsaw Puzzle game, but that potential is ruined by the horrible controls and lack of proper zoom functions. If you’re looking for a game in this genre, look elsewhere.
tl;dr – Jigsaw Fun: Amazing Animals is a Jigsaw Puzzle game that has players piecing together 100 puzzles with an animal theme. Unfortunately, this game controls extremely poorly, and the zoom function is so broken that puzzles with higher numbers of pieces are nearly unplayable. If you want a fun Jigsaw Puzzle game, look elsewhere.
