Review:
Chickenoidz Super Party is a family-friendly top-down Arcade-style arena-based Party Game released in 2023 on PC and Nintendo Switch. In this game, players control chickens grabbing pickups and trying to blast away or shove out of the arena all of their competitors.
The presentation here makes use of colorful but simple-looking 3D visuals for both the chickens and the arenas they fight in. Nothing especially impressive, and the loading screens feature such disparate artwork of chickens I have to wonder if at least some of it is public domain. However, it works for the gameplay. This is all backed by an energetic synthesized soundtrack that is similarly nothing special, but works well enough.
Depending on the type of match they find themselves in, players can dash to bump each other out, sumo-style, or grab weapons and power-ups to temporarily allow them to attack enemies. In my opinion, these power-ups don’t last anywhere near as long as they should, with most weapons only allowing a few shots before you discard it and must search for a new one. Meanwhile, a star that transforms your chicken into a giant, anthropomorphized chicken-person seems to last too long, making for a rampage that other players need to scramble away from unless they’re packing considerable firepower, which after a brief moment of shooting they won’t be anymore.
I do still think Chickenoidz is a fun Party Game, but it seems too unbalanced, frenetic, and poorly-paced to be a great one. If you’re looking for some action-packed fun, this may satisfy you, but you have countless better options on Nintendo Switch.
tl;dr – Chickenoidz Super Party is a family-friendly top-down Arcade-style arena-based Party Game. The action here is fun but a bit too frenetic, with balancing issues and pacing issues with weapons that constantly run dry and giant power-ups that seem to go on far too long. There’s still multiplayer fun to be had here, but you have better options for that on Nintendo Switch.
