Review:

Cubic Parking is a family-friendly Puzzle game in the “Rush Hour” style, where players move sliding blocks to allow for the passage of a “car” made of two triangles in one of 60 puzzles. Released on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in 2022, this game’s take on the genre involves an abstract “spacey” presentation.

The presentation here uses 2D “vector”-style visuals that seem reminiscent of games like Geometry Wars, albeit without that franchise’s flair. This is joined by simple sound effects and extremely faint instrumental and choral music. Seriously, I can barely hear it, even after turning up the in-game volume from 50% to 100%. Not great.

As for the gameplay itself… well, this is a block sliding Puzzle game. And while other games in this series were at least passable, the puzzle design here is outright bad, with puzzles that sometimes have simple solutions that only require you to move a fraction of the pieces, with plenty of empty space to remove all challenge. In addition, the game’s minimalist menus aren’t especially clear, and they take a few seconds to transition, which is frustrating, especially since there aren’t many options here in the first place.

Even with this game’s low $3 price tag, I do not think this is a game worth getting. The lack of polish, poor puzzle design, and lack of anything original or especially interesting going on here makes Cubic Parking one of the worst “Rush Hour”-style Puzzles I’ve played. Skip it.

tl;dr – Cubic Parking is a family-friendly Puzzle game in the “Rush Hour” style, where players must blocks to allow the passage of a “car”, with a vector-style “spacey” theme. The puzzle design here is terrible, and this game does nothing interesting or memorable, the presentation lacks polish, and there’s a terrible lack of options. Puzzle game fans looking for something inexpensive can do better than this.
