(Note: Edna & Harvey: The Breakout – Anniversary Edition, included in this bundle, is also included in Point’n’Click Lovers: Daedalic Adventure Bundle, along with Anna’s Quest, Children of Silentown, Deponia, Life of Delta, and The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav.)

“Edna & Harvey” Bundle, (not sure why the quotations are being used here) is a pair of Graphic Adventure games released on Nintendo Switch in 2023, with the respective games previously released separately in 2019 and 2020 – Edna & Harvey: The Breakout – Anniversary Edition, and its sequel Edna & Harvey: Harvey’s New Eyes.

I have separately reviewed both of these games. Here is what I thought of both of the games in this collection:

GameGenre# of PlayersScore
Edna & Harvey: The Breakout – Anniversary EditionGraphic Adventure1C-
tl;drEdna & Harvey: The Breakout is a Graphic Adventure about a young woman and her stuffed rabbit trying to break out of a mental institution. This game does a good job copying the style, tone, and humor of the great early LucasArts Graphic Adventure games, but the gameplay is tedious, frustrating, and at times nonsensical. Unless you’re a die-hard fan of the genre, you should skip this game.
Edna & Harvey: Harvey’s New EyesGraphic Adventure1B-
tl;drEdna & Harvey: Harvey’s New Eyes is a Graphic Adventure and a sequel to The Breakout that continues the story of Edna and Harvey through the eyes of a new character, Lilli. The gameplay this time around is a significant improvement over the first game, and the writing, story, and characters are as delightful as ever. The biggest problem I can point to here is the fact that said story really depends on players having played the first game before this. If you have, you’ll definitely want to jump right into this sequel.

In short, I definitely think Harvey’s New Eyes is the better of these two games, but both games have a pretty strongly-connected story, so it makes sense to get them both in one bundle. You’ll want to play the first game with a walkthrough though, to avoid that game’s many annoyances. If you can do that, I think you’ll find the characters and story in these games to be enjoyable throwbacks to the classic LucasArts games that many fondly remember as the golden age of the Graphic Adventure genre.

So then that leads to the question, how good a deal is this bundle? Separately, the games cost $20 each, and frequently go on sale for as low as $2-$3 each. By comparison, the bundle sells for $30, and regularly goes on sale for $3, so regardless of whether or not you’re looking at the sale price, you’re getting a decent discount on buying the bundle. In fact, if you’re waiting for sales, you should definitely get the bundle instead of either individual game, as the difference in price is negligible.

In the end, I think this makes for a solid bundle, especially for fans of old-school Graphic Adventure games. While I think the first game is not very good, playing through its story is important to fully enjoying the second game, and tossing the two in a bundle that doesn’t cost much more than each game’s price on its own makes it easy to pick up, even if only one of games is particularly good. Just use a walkthrough guide while playing through the first game and I think you’ll enjoy this bundle.

tl;dr – “Edna & Harvey” Bundle is a Compilation of two Graphic Adventure games – Edna & Harvey: The Breakout – Anniversary Edition, and its sequel Edna & Harvey: Harvey’s New Eyes. Between the two, the second game is much better than the first game, which has some major gameplay frustrations. However, the story of the two games is connected, and the bundle is a good enough deal that it really makes sense to get both at once. If you’re looking for a pair of Graphic Adventure games in the style of classics of the genre, and willing to tolerate some gameplay issues in one of them, this bundle is worth getting.
