Review:
Draw and Go! is an Arcade-style game released on Nintendo Switch in 2023. In this game, players use the touchscreen to draw lines that place little blue guys who push a bar, with an opposing AI-controlled player doing the same, with the winner being whoever pushes the bar to the other side.
The presentation here is extremely minimal. It’s just little 3D stick figures for all of the little guys each side is creating, on a flat and featureless platform, in front of a plain and featureless void. This is backed by no music, and minimal sounds. I would say this presentation was bad if I felt there was any sort of presentation here at all.
Sadly, about as much thought has been put into the gameplay. Even before getting into the game, you can see how little the developer actually cared here – players can only play this game using a touchscreen (so no docked play), but the game’s menus don’t support touchscreen and need to have options selected using gamepad controls. This despite that the only options select are three difficulty levels. That’s it.
For the actual gameplay, you’re just drawing to place down guys to push the bar. That’s it. It doesn’t matter where you place them, they all push the same. All that matters is how fast and how many are placed. And even then, the game frequently fails to register your input, meaning that you’ll be drawing and nothing will be happening as you lose ground to your AI opponent. Oh, and as for the difficulty, that only changes how fast the opponent creates their little guys to push the bar towards you.
I strain to think of another game I have played that is so pointless, low-effort, and devoid of any reason to play it as Draw and Go!. There’s no strategy here, no skill involved. There’s nothing interesting to look at or listen to. And even within this bottom-of-the-barrel gameplay target, this game still fails at making the game work properly. Even at $2, I feel like this game is overpriced by at least $3. In short, yeah, it’s bad. Don’t get it.
tl;dr – Draw and Go! is an Arcade-style game where players use the touchscreen to draw lines that place little blue guys who push a bar while an opposing AI player does the same. Unfortunately, this game is stupidly-simple, tedious, boring, poorly-made, with a bland and uninteresting presentation. Do not get this.
