Party Bundle: Ludomania & Flowlines VS & 2048 Battles, released on Nintendo Switch in 2022, is a Compilation of the three named Puzzle and Board games, previously released on Nintendo Switch in 2018 and 2019.
I have reviewed all of these games. Here is what I thought of each of the games in this collection:
| Game | Genre | # of Players | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2048 Battles | Unlimited Pattern Puzzle | 1-8 Competitive (Local Splitscreen) | B |
tl;dr2048 Battles is a version of the 2048 Puzzle game popularized on Smartphones a few years back. This version looks good and plays well enough, but the isometric view is less than ideal and screws up the touchscreen controls, although it’s still a solid puzzle game when played with a D-pad or control stick. | |||
| Flowlines VS | Numberlink Puzzle | 1-2 Competitive (Local) | C- |
tl;drFlowlines VS is a Puzzle game that has you connecting dots of the same color with lines and trying to cover the entire field with them, and unlike the Piczle games, there’s even a multiplayer competitive mode. Unfortunately, the hexagon-based grid makes for problems when making moves, and overall the game just doesn’t work as well as the Piczle games. If you’re looking to try this sort of game, stick with one of those, not this one. | |||
| Ludomania | Board Game | 1-4 Competitive (Local) | B- |
tl;drLudomania is a version of the classic Board Game Ludo, aka Parcheesi. While this game doesn’t do anything to truly elevate the board game, it has enough features and polish to be well worth the $4 price tag, at least for anyone who doesn’t want to spring for the full $40 to get Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics. | |||
Overall, I think the games in this Collection are pretty good, with Flowlines VS being the weakest of the three. However, I do think this trio of games suffers a bit from being in the shadow of other better games. Flowlines VS simply isn’t as good as the Piczle games, Ludomania is rendered unnecessary if you own Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics, and as for 2048 Battles, you can probably find better versions of 2048 for free on your smartphone.
I suppose at the very least this bundle does save you a few bucks if you have your heart set on getting all three, costing $10 compared to the $13 these games cost separately. Or, let’s be realistic – if we’re looking at the way these games go on sale literally every two weeks, each of the games costs $2 individually compared to buying all three for $2 in this bundle.
And, you know, at $2, I think Party Bundle: Ludomania & Flowlines VS & 2048 Battles is probably worth it. Yeah, you have better options if you’re interested in these games, but that sale price packs a good amount of quality gameplay. Just don’t bother spending the full $13 on this.
tl;dr – Party Bundle: Ludomania & Flowlines VS & 2048 Battles is a Compilation of the three named titles, which are mostly pretty good (though Flowlines VS’s control issues are frustrating). There are better games in the style of each of these titles on Nintendo Switch, but what’s here is still pretty good. Oh, and while the $13 price of this bundle saves you a few bucks off the individual prices of these games, you’ll definitely want to pick this up on sale for $2 instead, since it goes on sale every two weeks.
