Sector 98 is a challenging Platformer released in 2024 on Nintendo Switch. In this game, players control an anthropomorphic robot moving through a facility, collecting floating remote controls, and then getting to an outlet and plugging in.
The presentation here makes use of 2D pixel art visuals that look decent enough, if a bit lacking in variety. This is backed by a repetitive synthesized soundtrack that’s not terrible but definitely nothing noteworthy.
If it worked, Sector 98 would be a decent if completely unoriginal and forgettable Platformer with a frustratingly small jump. The problem is, it doesn’t work. The game frequently fails to detect button presses, resulting in countless deaths. This isn’t a “once in a while” thing either – you’ll be lucky to get through a level without dying due to this issue numerous times.
Simply put, Sector 98 is broken. It aims to be a pretty mediocre Platformer, and even at this unambitious goal this game fails miserably, due to poor, unreliable controls. Even at its low $1 price, this game is not worth it.
tl;dr – Sector 98 is a Platformer that has a robot collecting remote controls and getting to an outlet. This would have been a mediocre Platformer, but it is rendered virtually unplayable by terrible, spotty, unreliable controls. Skip this one.
