Review:

SpongeBob SquarePants: Bundle, released on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in 2024, is a Compilation containing a pair of 3D Platformers starring the famous animated character.

I have previously reviewed these games. Here is what I thought of both of the games in this collection:

GameGenre# of PlayersScore
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated3D Platformer1-2 Competitive (Local, Local Wireless, Online)C+
tl;drSpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Reloaded is a remake of a classic PlayStation 2/Xbox/GameCube-era 3D Platformer, and this is mostly a pretty good remake, with a great presentation and solid (if a bit dated) gameplay. However, the constant loading times really hurt the game’s pacing, making this far less enjoyable than it should be. Still, even with this problem, this is well worth picking up for any SpongeBob fan.
SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake3D Platformer1B
tl;drSpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake is a 3D Platformer that is a direct sequel to 2020’s remake of Battle for Bikini Bottom, and it improves on many of that game’s issues, making for an all-around solid game, though not one that does anything new or out of the norm for the genre. Still, if you’re a 3D Platformer fan or especially a SpongeBob fan, this is definitely a game you’ll want to get your hands on.

In short, I think both of these games are solid 3D Platformers, but I think that Bikini Bottom Rehydrated’s load times detract too much from the experience, and Cosmic Shake builds on the gameplay to be something just all-around better. However, I think any SpongeBob fan will likely be delighted with both of these games.

Having said that, I do not think they’ll be delighted with this bundle. Why? At $70, it is the same price as it costs to get both games separately. Actually, it’s technically a penny more. And where both individual SpongeBob games have gone on sale repeatedly since they released, as of this writing SpongeBob SquarePants: Bundle hasn’t gone on sale once.

Because of this, even though both games in the SpongeBob SquarePants: Bundle are worthwhile 3D Platformers, I just cannot recommend this bundle, because it is not a good deal. If you’re a SpongeBob fan, just buy the two games separately. You’ll get the same experience, and depending on when you buy you’ll probably save money too.

tl;dr – SpongeBob SquarePants: Bundle is a Compilation of two 3D Platformers, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated, and SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake. Both are solid 3D Platformers that fans of the SpongeBob franchise will likely enjoy, but unfortunately this bundle is simply not a good deal, and in fact you’re much better off getting the individual games when they go on sale. There’s no good reason to get this bundle instead.
