Review:

Last Bloody Snack is a Horror-focused Graphic Adventure game released on PC in 2023 and ported to Nintendo Switch in 2024. This game casts players in the role of a child who awakens one night to a loud sound, and the revelation that his mother has been torn apart by a dinosaur-like monster.

The presentation in this game is a jumbled mess. Seemingly every element of this game, from the menus to the main gameplay to the statis cutscenes to the door transition scenes are all rendered in a different art style, with everything clashing. Oddly, each element in and of itself is fairly decent – the pixel art for the main gameplay looks good, and the sketchy monochrome door animations in particular are excellent, but pairing all of these styles together makes it fall apart as a coherent whole.

Sadly, this is indicative of the rest of the game, too. The main menu navigation doesn’t seem to work properly and it’s a pain even picking the menu option you want, the core gameplay forces you to juggle moving your own character and separately moving an on-screen cursor, apparently requiring you to move the cursor to interact with objects but not letting you interact unless it’s close to the character (so why do you even need the cursor, then!?).

The killer creature is still clomping around the house and can outrun you, so you’ll need to duck into rooms to escape it, but it’s not clear which rooms are locked. You need to search for keys and helpful objects in a hurry, but the game doesn’t show what objects you can interact with, and as you try to figure out what you’re even supposed to be doing, you will be killed over and over again.

Even the story is nonsensical, with one of the first things you need to do being to feed a sandwich to the hobo living in your bathroom and why is there a hobo living in your bathroom?

Everything about Last Bloody Snack seems poorly-conceived and poorly-constructed, and even if a few pieces of the game are genuinely well-crafted, they absolutely do not contribute to anything even remotely resembling a worthwhile whole. Even Horror fans should stay away from this one, it is a bloody mess.

tl;dr – Last Bloody Snack is a Graphic Adventure and Horror game about a child who awakens to find a monster has broken into his home and killed his mom. Everything about this game is a horrible, jumbled mess, and while some graphical elements are decent, as a whole this is nearly unplayable. Skip it.
