Sometimes the best controller is the one you already have. And with this idea in mind, you see controller adapters like the 8Bitdo USB Wireless Adapter, which allow you to connect your controller from one platform to another platform. However, I found that adapter to be wildly unreliable, not working for some controllers, and working poorly for others. Now, the Aknes GuliKit adapter, released in 2024, steps onto the scene, aiming to do what 8Bitdo’s adapter couldn’t.

Okay, at this point I’m going to stop burying the lead – this adapter absolutely did not work. For anything.

I tried using it to connect an Xbox One controller and a PlayStation 4 controller to a Nintendo Switch. I tried connecting an Xbox One controller and a Nintendo Switch Pro controller to a PlayStation 4. I tried connecting a PlayStation 4 controller and a Nintendo Switch Pro controller to an Xbox One. And I tried connecting a Nintendo Switch Pro controller to a PC. In all cases, the result was absolute failure.

The adapter has a passthrough USB port and a button to press and hold for syncing. The instructions are a tad confusing on whether you’re supposed to connect via USB using the passthrough or whether you’re connecting wirelessly via bluetooth, so I tried both. The most I ever got was sometimes the controller would light up as if it was connected, but the console itself would never register that connection, never respond to controller inputs.

In the end, as terrible as the 8Bitdo USB Wireless Adapter may have been, the Aknes GuliKit adapter is worse. At the very least 8Bitdo’s adapter kinda’ worked for some controllers. But the Aknes GuliKit adapter does not work at all, in any way. Do not waste your money on this.

tl;dr – The Aknes GuliKit adapter claims to make controllers from various platforms work on various other platforms, including the Nintendo Switch. This claim is outright false – this did not work for a single controller I tested, with any of the four platforms I tested it with. You should absolutely not buy it.
