Review:
Survive Undead Rush, released on Nintendo Switch in 2024, is an Arcade-style game and 2-Stick Shooter that has players fending off hordes of zombies. Given the name and general style of the game, I can’t help but feel like this game’s creators may have been attempting something like Vampire Survivors. If that’s true, they completely misunderstood the assignment.
Survive Undead Rush is a repetitive slog of a game. I say this is a 2-Stick Shooter, but the first character you play cannot shoot, he can only wave a stick in the direction you choose. You don’t acquire any additional weapons for this character (or any of the unlockable characters, for that matter), you can only gradually upgrade their stats. Apart from that, you just have extremely, extremely repetitive gameplay, generally running in circles and either swatting at or shooting at the zombies.
This game makes use of really simple 2D pixel art visuals backed by a fairly generic-sounding cinematic-style soundtrack. There are a few zombie sounds and grunts when you’re character gets hit, but otherwise that’s about it.
There’s just not much reason to play Survive Undead Rush. It’s simple, dull, repetitive, and boring. Maybe there was some idea at some point to do something interesting here, but if there was, that idea never materialized into anything worthwhile. Skip this one.
tl;dr – Survive Undead Rush is an Arcade-style game with 2-Stick Shooter elements where you fight off hordes of zombies. It’s boring, dull, and repetitive, with pretty much nothing interesting going on here. Skip it.
