Review:
Paradiso Series Bundle is a Compilation of Lucah: Born of a Dream, previously released on Nintendo Switch in 2019, and Death of a Wish, released on Nintendo Switch in 2024. Both of these games are Action-RPG titles set in the same world.
I have separately reviewed these games. Here is what I thought of each of the games in this collection:
| Game | Genre | # of Players | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lucah: Born of a Dream | Action-RPG | 1 | B- |
tl;drLucah is an Action-RPG with a solid combat system and good RPG-style mechanics, but that is hampered by its odd presentation that makes it difficult to make out what you’re looking at and makes much of the game look samey. There’s some good gameplay here, but I can’t help but feel like this game would have been more enjoyable with a different presentation. | |||
| Death of a Wish | Action-RPG | 1 | B |
tl;drDeath of a Wish is an Action-RPG and sequel to Lucah: Born of a Dream that similarly has a solid combat system and good RPG-style mechanics, but that is hampered by its odd presentation that makes it difficult to make out what you’re looking at and makes much of the game look samey. The way this game ditches the first game’s stamina meter is definitely an improvement, but it still has a lot of issues that drag down its otherwise good gameplay. | |||
Both of these games mainly excel at one thing: combat. I think Death of a Wish improves upon the original by ditching the first game’s frustrating stamina mechanic, but both games have satisfying combat, even if the other elements are less successful.
Naturally, the other question I ask when it comes to bundles is how good a value the bundle is, and here everything falls apart. While buying these two games separately will cost you $30, buying them together in this bundle inexplicably costs $1.50 more than that. Things get even worse when you look at sale prices – separately, the games’ combined prices have dropped down to $17.50, but this bundle’s sale price has not gone under $28 as of this writing. And while some releases like this can be justified due to price parity with a physical release, this Compilation has no such physical release.
In other words, no matter which way you look at it, Paradiso Series Bundle is a rip-off, and while both games contained within it are good, you are absolutely better off buying them separately. Do not waste your money on this release.
tl;dr – Paradiso Series Bundle is a Compilation containing Lucah: Born of a Dream and Death of a Wish, both Action-RPG titles set in the same world. While the games themselves are both decent, with good combat, this bundle is absurdly overpriced and you’re better off just getting its two contained games separately.
