Star Wars: Bounty Hunter is a Third-Person Shooter originally released in 2002 on PlayStation 2 and GameCube and later remastered in 2024 and released on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Set between the events of the films Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, and follows the bounty Hunter Jango Fett, exploring how he came to get involved in the films’ cloning operation, among other things.

While not as bad as some of the games Aspyr has dredged up from the Star Wars franchise’s past, Bounty Hunter definitely hasn’t aged well, with muddy textures, fairly simple 3D character models, and limited environments. The overall resolution and framerate is improved here, but definitely don’t expect a great-looking game.

When it comes to the gameplay, this is… eh, fine. Certainly nothing special. This is a largely by-the-book Third-Person Shooter from the early 2000s, which means lots of linear level design that the game tries to obfuscate through often nonsensical labyrinthine corridors with poor signposting, bullet-sponge enemies, hit-or-miss platforming, and a “scan and capture” game mechanic that’s thematically appropriate but adds nothing to the gameplay other than more busywork for completionists. This game is playable, it gets the job done, but not in any particularly exceptional or memorable manner.

Even back in its day, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter was a disposable, middling entry in the multitude of Star Wars games, and the passage of time hasn’t revealed it to be anything more than that. If you absolutely must have another Star Wars game in your Nintendo Switch library, I suppose there are worse options, but you can definitely do better than this.

tl;dr – Star Wars: Bounty Hunter is a Third-Person Shooter set between the events of Star Wars Episode I and Episode II, starring the bounty hunter Jango Fett. It was a serviceable but sub-par entry in the franchise back when it was first released nearly 25 years ago, and this remaster doesn’t change that. As Star Wars games go, you could do worse, but you could also do much, much better.
