Review:

Tower Defense Bundle, released on Nintendo Switch in 2022, is a Compilation containing two Tower Defense games, previously released on Nintendo Switch in 2020 and 2021, respectively.

I have separately reviewed these games. Here is what I thought of each of the games in this collection:

GameGenre# of PlayersScore
Fantasy Tower DefenseTower Defense1C
tl;drFantasy Tower Defense is quite possibly the most generic, bland, forgettable Tower Defense game I’ve ever played. There’s nothing truly bad here, but there’s nothing great either.
Royal Tower DefenseTower Defense1C
tl;drRoyal Tower Defense is the follow-up to Fantasy Tower Defense, and while there are some small improvements made throughout the game, this is still a pretty bland and generic Tower Defense game, and you’re still better off spending your money on one of the many better entries in the genre.

In short, this pair of games may very well be the blandest Tower Defense games I’ve ever played. They’re not outright bad, but they’re generic, completely forgettable, and pretty boring.

Okay, but this is a bundle, so perhaps what these games lack in personality, they make up for here in value? Well, not at their standard pricing, they don’t. In fact, at $12, this bundle is actually $1 more than the price of buying the games individually! At the very least, the sale price of $2 halves the combined sale prices off the individual games, and this bundle does go on sale quite often… but likely only because it’s trying to convince customers they’re getting a deal when really what they’re doing is spending $2 on two of the most disposable Tower Defense games ever made.

Overall, I suppose if you want to spend the minimal amount to get some sort of passable Tower Defense games on Nintendo Switch, Tower Defense Bundle will do that, but neither of these games is especially great, and this bundle is a rip-off unless you’re getting it on sale. And even if you are, you might consider holding off on spending the $2 and instead putting that money toward an actually good Tower Defense game instead – there are plenty on Nintendo Switch.

tl;dr – Tower Defense Bundle is a Compilation of Fantasy Tower Defense and Royal Tower Defense, two of the blandest Tower Defense games I’ve ever played, in a bundle that’s actually ripping you off unless you get it during a sale. Even then, I think you may be better off saving your money for an actually good Tower Defense game instead.

Grade: C+
