Review:

Titanigods is a Turn-Based JRPG released on Nintendo Switch in 2025. This game has players controlling a party of characters inspired by the Greek gods Poseidon, Dionysius, and Aphrodite, as they head out on a quest to unfreeze the Earth’s oceans… or… something.

Look, I’m not going to sugarcoat this. Titanigods is an embarrassingly amateurish attempt at the RPG genre. It looks like it was made in some sort of basic 3D RPG-making software or game creation kit, and while there are some good games that began their life in such a way, you need to really show an inspired vision and dedication to overcome the inherent shortcomings of a game made in such a way, and Titanigods doesn’t do any of that.

Does this game have an incredible story its creator clearly needed to be told, with truly unforgettable characters? Well, no – the story here is extremely poorly written, and the only thing memorable about the characters is stuff I’ve already told you – they’re roughly inspired by Greek gods.

Does Titanigods spruce up the graphics to help this game rise above is humble creation? Not really, no. The game’s simple, blocky, Quest 64-esque 3D visuals with simple repetitive textures are not only ugly, but they’re completely uninspired and lacking in personality, as well as anime-style character portraits that look great, but do little to actually elevate the game. There is an exception to this in the enemies, which are only 2D images but have some really nice character designs with a lot of detail… but these enemies don’t match the art style of the rest of the game, making me suspect they’re simply assets that have been acquired elsewhere and shoved into the game.

What about the soundtrack? Some great tunes can really help an RPG make up for what it’s lacking elsewhere! This may be true, but this game’s rough synthesized soundtrack will not be likely to please anyone, and quite the contrary I was tempted to mute the game entirely rather than continuing to listen to these slightly-unpleasant low-fi songs.

Okay, what about a great battle system? Even if everything else is crap, a truly well-crafted battle system can… nah, not even going to finish that. This is the most bog-standard Turn-Based RPG battle system imaginable. It’s one major attempt at originality is that standard enemies don’t get permanently defeated, but… get this… bosses do! You know… just like virtually every RPG ever made. Oh! But I forgot to mention! Bosses give you special prizes for beating them! You know… just like virtually every RPG ever made.

Ah, well you know what? Quest 64 was also a pretty bog-standard uninspired RPG, but people still enjoyed it because the Nintendo 64 was so horribly lacking in RPGs and… yeah, that’s not an issue on Nintendo Switch, with a massive list of RPGs demanding to be played.

Price! What about price! At $10, Titanigods is at a price that- nope. At the same price you can get Cthulhu Saves Christmas or This Way Madness Lies, two games that are also retro-styled RPGs, but which both have fantastic storytelling, great characters, some clever combat mechanics, a great sense of humor, and a ton of personality, with This Way Madness Lies also boasting a wonderful soundtrack.

Ah, but what about the fact that this game drops to $2 during sales! Making it even cheaper than those two games? Well… in that case, download RPG Maker MV Player. It’s completely free, and lets you play a huge library of user-created RPGs, including some really good ones! You can see some that I’ve reviewed here.

Oh, also, this game has absolutely terrible signposting and pointless map design. I know I’m kinda’ breaking my running gag here, but I wanted to mention it and wasn’t sure where else to put it.

You know, I was originally thinking I’d give Titanigods a D grade because it is technically playable, it’s functional, and it isn’t broken in any significant way, but the more I look at it from every angle, there just doesn’t seem to be any good reason to waste your time with this. It is an RPG with nothing to offer fans of the genre, and certainly nothing to offer that they can’t find elsewhere in much better form. Why would you waste time and money playing this instead of one of the other games I mentioned above? I can’t think of any good reason.

tl;dr – Titanigods is a Turn-Based JRPG that has players controlling a group of characters inspired by Greek Gods. And it has… absolutely nothing to offer you. It’s uninspired, visually ugly, audibly irritating, bland, poorly-written, lacking personality, devoid of any noteworthy game mechanics… there’s just nothing here to be worth your time and money when there are so many other better alternatives on Nintendo Switch, and Titanigods doesn’t even have one selling point that makes it deserving of your attention. Don’t bother with this one.
