The Gorixer Mouse Controllers, or as they’re called on the box, the Gorixer Mouse Game Stand, are not really either of those things. Rather, they’re grips for the Nintendo Joy-Con 2 Controllers designed to make play more comfortable and natural when playing in mouse mode. Players push the Joy-Con 2 Controllers into these grips and they snap into place, making a shape that is intended to be more like a traditional mouse.
I tend to think that the Joy-Con 2 controllers aren’t comfortable to use as mice, and I also see the great potential in having a game controller you can quickly and easily turn into a mouse, so I absolutely see the utility in devices like these. The question is, are these grips any good?

Unlike the Nintendo Switch 2, which has the Joy-Con 2 controllers attaching via magnets, these grips have the controllers snap in using notches built into the Joy-Con 2 controllers. I have to admit, they seemed pretty firmly in place, and they block the “eject” triggers on the back of the controllers, so I was a bit worried that I might struggle to remove them, but in practice I simply had to snap them back off without too much effort.

When connected to the Joy-Con 2 controllers, these grips leave all of the buttons on the controllers (save for the aforementioned eject button) free to access, which I feel is important to note – I’ve seen other similar grips that cover up some of these buttons, which is a problem when some of the Nintendo Switch 2 games that use mouse mode still make use of these buttons while you’re in mouse mode. Here, that’s not an issue.

What’s more, the flat surface on the bottom of the grip is large enough that it’s far more stable than a Joy-Con 2 controller alone, and it has two pass-through holes for the mouse sensor, one for each Joy-Con 2 controller. This is because each of these grips is designed to be used with either the left or right Joy-Cons.

This may seem like another great feature of the Gorixer Mouse Controllers, but as it happens, it’s these grips’ downfall. Take a closer look at an average computer mouse – what do you see? In all likelihood, it’s curved in a way that isn’t quite symmetrical from back to front, as both sides aren’t the same – one side will have your palm resting on it, while the other side will have your fingers curling over it to press down on the buttons. And because the curve of the top of the mouse isn’t symmetrical, it’s designed with the comfort of the human hand in mind.
The Gorixer Mouse Controllers are the opposite in this respect – they have been designed to be symmetrical so that either grip can be used with either Joy-Con 2 controller, and in doing so they’ve outright ensured that these grips won’t be very comfortable for either hand. In fact, the Joy-Con 2 controller juts out over the top of these grips, meaning that your palm won’t be resting comfortably on top – it’ll have the Joy-Con 2 pushing into your hand along the middle.
Comfort isn’t always the most important thing when judging a controller, but it’s one of the key reasons to get a grip for a controller, and the Gorixer Mouse Controllers completely bungles this. And while, yes, it does make movement in mouse mode more stable, this positive is outweighed by the need to pop in and out the Joy-Con 2 controllers every time you want to connect them to your Nintendo Switch 2, or use them as a standard controller, or use them for motion-controlled games.
In other words, I feel like these pieces of plastic are more trouble than they’re worth. The Gorixer Mouse Controllers may improve one element of using the Joy-Con 2 controllers in mouse mode, but they make multiple other elements worse, and they don’t even do everything you would want a grip like this to do. As such, I do not recommend them.
tl;dr – The Gorixer Mouse Controllers are a pair of Grips to fit onto the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con 2 Controllers to make them feel closer to standard computer mice for use in mouse mode. While these grips do help to stabilize movement, their symmetrical design makes them uncomfortable, and this combined with the multiple other inconveniences caused by having to pop the Joy-Cons into and out of the grips make these more trouble than they’re worth.
