The Heatfun Switch 2 Controller Charging Dock is a Charger that users can plug four Joy-Con 2 controllers into (two L/R pairs) to charge them, with the idea being that this is a way to keep extra Joy-Cons powered if you have more than the two that come attached to your Nintendo Switch 2.

The charger has four ports for Nintendo Switch 2 controllers, with two of them colored light blue and two colored light red, the only colors Nintendo has currently announced for Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 controllers. The two blue ports charge left Joy-Con 2 controllers, and the two right ports charge right Joy-Con 2 controllers. You can technically turn the Joy-Con 2 controllers upside-down to charge on the other-colored ports, though I can’t imagine this being useful when you’ll almost certainly want to be charging pairs of them at a time.

From what I can tell, the charging time seems fine. I don’t have an exact number for you, but after spending a day draining a pair of Joy-Con 2 controllers, I put them on the charger overnight and by morning they were full again. All fine.

In addition, for added utility, this charger has 6 little slots in the base to store Nintendo Switch game cartridges or Nintendo Switch 2 game cartridges (they’re the same shape and size) – two in front, and two each on either side. It’s not a huge thing, but it is a nice extra.

And now let me cut to the chase… I absolutely hate this thing.

Why, you ask? Well, allow me to tell you…

Well first, these things put out a blindingly bright light – green when powered but with no Joy-Con 2 connected, and red when charging a connected Joy-Con 2. I wouldn’t want this to be in a bedroom because it would keep me up all night. It goes well beyond garish to the point where I wonder who the heck thought anyone would want something so bright.

Ah, but it’s not the light that’s the worst part. This thing beeps loudly and repeatedly. It beeps when powered up, it beeps when powering down, it beeps when a Joy-Con 2 is connected or disconnected, and if left plugged in it may well just keep beeping whenever it wants to. My girlfriend had to work from home on a day that I left this plugged in, and it drove her up the wall, and she was one room over.

Oh yeah, and even after all of that, it doesn’t even sync controllers to the Nintendo Switch 2 – you have to do that yourself.

On top of that, this device is listed as selling for as much at $46! That’s insane! I could get a really good mid-range third-party Pro-style controller for that price! Even at the lowest price this thing is selling for (as I write this, $24 on Amazon), it’s still far, far too expensive for what’s being offered here. For this price, I cannot possibly recommend this. Heck, they could give this thing away and I’d still hesitate to consider it worth picking up. Surely there are better options than this.

Please, please do not buy this torture device disguised as a videogame accessory. I cannot give this an F because it does indeed work and it does exactly what it promises to do, but if your wish was for a Joy-Con charger for your Nintendo Switch 2, the Heatfun Switch 2 Controller Charging Dock is the monkey’s paw answer to that wish. Do not pay money for this. And if someone offers you this charger in a dark alley, take it to mean that they wish to harm you.

tl;dr – The Heatfun Switch 2 Controller Charging Dock is a Charger to power up two pairs of Joy-Con 2 controllers in addition to the pair charging on your Nintendo Switch 2. It does that well enough, but it is otherwise a nightmare, with garish bright lights and loud annoying beeping noises seemingly designed to drive you crazy, and it doesn’t even sync the controllers with your Nintendo Switch 2. On top of that, the asking price for this thing is ridiculous. Surely you have better options for Joy-Con 2 Chargers than this. Trust me, you want to go with any other option.
