The Huijutchen Gaming Controller Mouse, despite the name, is not a mouse but a pair of grips for the Nintendo Joy-Con 2 Controllers designed to make play more comfortable and natural when playing in mouse mode. Players slot the Joy-Con 2 Controllers into these grips which rest inside, making a shape that is intended to be more like a traditional mouse.
I tend to think that the Joy-Con 2 controllers aren’t comfortable to use as mice, and I also see the great potential in having a game controller you can quickly and easily turn into a mouse, so I absolutely see the utility in devices like these. The question is, are these grips any good?

Unlike the Nintendo Switch 2, which has the Joy-Con 2 controllers attaching via magnets, these grips don’t really use any mechanism to attach the Joy-Con 2 controllers to the grips, other than gravity. As it happens, that’s plenty enough, as you’re not likely to turn a mouse upside-down while it’s in use.
Furthermore, I should note that the two grips included here are not the same – one is intended for the left Joy-Con 2 controller, and one is for the right Joy-Con 2 controller. This ensures that each grip is designed specifically for the hand it’s being used in, with the idea of making it more comfortable.
There’s a hole in the bottom of each to allow the mouse sensor on the Joy-Con 2 to detect the surface it’s moving across, and notches to make space for the analog sticks, release buttons (they’re not used here, but they still take up room), and the minus button on the left Joy-Con 2 controller.

Sure enough, the shape of these grips does a good job imitating the general shape of a computer mouse, making them pretty comfortable to hold in the hands, feeling natural, and dramatically more comfortable than the Joy-Con 2 controllers on their own. What’s more, the flat surface on the bottom of the grip is large enough that it’s far more stable than a Joy-Con 2 controller alone.
The way this grip is shaped makes it comfortable to use the analog sticks on both controllers also. However, if you’re looking at the pictures of this grip, you’re probably starting to see its major problems – it covers up half the buttons on the Joy-Con 2 controllers!
On the right Joy-Con 2 controller, the Y button, part of the B button, and half of the plus button are covered by the grip. It’s even worse on the left Joy-Con 2 controller, where all but a sliver of the left directional button and half of the minus button are covered up. If this were a normal computer mouse this might not be such a big deal, but it isn’t, and games for Nintendo Switch 2 designed to use mouse mode are frequently made with the idea that the face buttons are still all accessible, meaning that even in games that use mouse mode, these grips will make things worse, not better.
It’s disappointing too, because I feel like this could have been easily resolved – just reduce the portion of the plastic on the grips so it doesn’t cover any buttons. If that means that the Joy-Con 2 controller isn’t as secure, that’s okay, just find a better way to secure it. But it’s not like your hands are resting on that part of the mouse anyway – people tend to cup the mouse from the outside, since that’s the side opposite the thumb anyway.
Because of this one massive flaw, I can’t really recommend the Huijutchen Gaming Controller Mouse. It may make it more comfortable to play some Nintendo Switch 2 games in mouse mode, but what does that matter when it makes other mouse mode games completely unplayable while it is in use? Surely there’s a better option for a mouse-style grip than this.
tl;dr – The Huijutchen Gaming Controller Mouse are a L/R pair of Grips to slide Nintendo Switch Joy-Con 2 Controllers into to make them feel closer to standard computer mice for use in mouse mode. While these grips do help to stabilize movement and make them more comfortable, the way they cover half of the controllers’ face buttons makes this unusable with numerous mouse mode games, defeating the purpose of using them. Find different mouse-style grips to use instead of this.
