The TZGZT Travel Carrying Case is a mid-size carrying case for Nintendo Switch 2 that has the distinction of being the first Nintendo Switch 2 product I ever reviewed, three months before the Nintendo Switch 2 launched, before we even knew the full details about the console. Was that review a gimmick? I suppose, but it was also pointing out the absurdity of releasing products for the upcoming hybrid console before we even had the full details about it.
So with that being the case, how spot-on was I in my “review” when I didn’t even have a Nintendo Switch 2 to stick inside of it? Actually, pretty good. I would say that pretty much everything I had to say about it turned out to be true. Still, for the sake of doing a proper review, let’s run through it all and see what I think about this case, now that I have a Nintendo Switch 2 to use it with.

TZGZT’s case looks similar in many ways to Nintendo Switch cases. It has a firm “EVA” (feels like molded plastic) exterior with a soft fabric interior. The exterior has a carrying strap with what seems to be a fairly comfortable molded silicon handle, while the inside contains a mesh zippered storage compartment, a firm fabric flap with twelve slots for game cartridges, ending in a velcro strap to enclose the Nintendo Switch 2 and keep it firmly in place so it doesn’t jostle inside the case. I should also note that the back of the case has two bumps at the upper corners to contain the extended ZL and ZR buttons of the expanded Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Cons. Along with the case are included two tempered glass screen protectors, a screen protector applicator, and a cleaning cloth.

All of this appears to be in line with what we expect from carrying cases, and just to be clear that this is not a case for the original Nintendo Switch, which is far too small for this case. In fact, even the Nintendo Switch 2 seems a little loose inside this case, causing it to jostle around a bit. I don’t think it’s so bad that it’s likely to be damaged, but it’s definitely not as snug as you would likely look for in a protective case. Surprisingly, the area where it feels the most loose is on the side of the screen – there’s a lot of room for this to jostle forward and backward (or up and down, depending on the angle). Again, I don’t think this is likely to damage the screen, but it is a little worrying.
However, that’s where the storage pocket comes in, and I think this problem is likely to be mitigated if you have this pocket filled with accessories. That said, as I suspected, this product’s description was pretty dishonest about just how much you can fit in this thing. For example:
Interior small mesh compartment is capable to hold switch 2 accessories like AC Charging Adapter, Switch Dock, Joy-Con Grip, Joy-Con Straps, Switch Pro controller, HDMI Cable, and 12-24 game cards slots, along with other switch 2 accessories.
Wow, that is a lot of accessories to claim will fit into this pouch. And as I suspected, there’s just no way you’re fitting all of that in there.

For one thing, there is just no way you’ll be fitting a Nintendo Switch 2 Dock in here (and you can see me trying in a photo). Perhaps at some future time when a third-party manufacturer like Genki has developed a smaller, more portable alternative to the official Nintendo Switch 2 dock, that might fit, but trying to fit Nintendo’s own dock in here will be a fool’s errand. However, that’s not the only thing…

As you can see, you can just barely fit a Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller in this case, but I don’t recommend it. It makes the case difficult to close, and I feel like trying to do so could damage your Nintendo Switch 2’s screen, and possibly also damage the analog sticks on the controller.
Having said that, this storage compartment should be fine to store an extra pair of Joy-Con 2 Controllers, some Joy-Con 2 straps, a Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter, and maybe a Joy-Con 2 grip. Just be careful when closing the case shut.
The other questionable claim this case’s profile makes is “12-24 game card slots”. you can stuff 24 Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 game cards in there by doubling up and putting two games in each slot, but that seems sloppy.
Overall, I do still think that the TZGZT Travel Carrying Case is a decent mid-size Nintendo Switch 2 carrying case. However, the looseness of the Nintendo Switch 2 inside the case is a little worrisome, and some of the claims made by the manufacturer are outright falsehoods. But as long as you get this while being aware of these untrue claims, I think you’ll find this to be a decent carrying case for your Nintendo Switch 2 and a few accessories.
tl;dr – The TZGZT Travel Carrying Case is a mid-size carrying case for Nintendo Switch 2, and it’s mostly a decent case, but it’s a little bit overly-large in a way that causes the Nintendo Switch 2 to jostle around inside it, and some of the claims the manufacturer makes about what you can store inside it are outright falsehoods. However, as long as you’re aware of this case’s shortcomings, I do still think it’s a decent case.
