Review:

Nora: The Wannabe Alchemist + Mosaic Chronicles Deluxe, released on Nintendo Switch in 2024, is a Compilation containing the two named games, both previously released on Nintendo Switch in 2023.

I have separately reviewed these games. Here is what I thought of each of the games in this collection:

GameGenre# of PlayersScore
Nora: The Wannabe AlchemistSimulation1D+
tl;drNora: The Wannabe Alchemist is a Simulation-style game where players take the role of a young witch trying to earn money by growing ingredients, turning them into potions, and then selling them. Every step of this process is made unnecessarily tedious with loading times and unnecessary interruptions, on top of gameplay that boils down to little more than busywork. If you’re looking for a shopkeeper Simulation on Nintendo Switch, you have plenty of better options.
Mosaic Chronicles DeluxePuzzle1C
tl;drMosaic Chronicles is a Jigsaw Puzzle-style game that has players piecing together stained glass-esque mosaics and unlocking more of that image’s story. The artwork here is wonderful, but this game balances out its good qualities with absolutely abysmal controls that will cause tons of unnecessary frustration. The result is a game I would have difficulty recommending.

In short, both of these games have some pretty major problems. Mosaic Chronicles at least has some redeeming qualities, but Nora is just tedium piled on top of busywork. And both of these games are the sort where you can find other stuff in roughly the same genre on Nintendo Switch that’s far better.

Okay, but this is a bundle, so how does that affect the value? Well, at $30 this is a whole $3 less expensive than getting the two games separately. Hardly a massive deal given that these aren’t great games to begin with. At the very least, the bundle goes on sale for $2 multiple times every month, the same cost as either game individually, making it basically like getting one of the games within it for free.

Still, should you get this bundle, even if it’s a good deal compared to the individual games? Well, since I don’t recommend either of the individual games, no. But if you’re ignoring that advice because for some reason you want one of these two games then yes, this bundle is the best way to get them.

tl;dr – Nora: The Wannabe Alchemist + Mosaic Chronicles Deluxe is a Compilation containing the two named games, both different types of games and both games highly flawed and with other similar games on the Nintendo Switch that are better. This bundle is a good deal on these games, particularly when it goes on sale, but even then I wouldn’t recommend it, because I wouldn’t recommend either of the games it contains.

Grade: C
