Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack – July 2025 Release for Nintendo GameCube – Overview

Nintendo has released one additional game for the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack’s Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics app. Let’s have a look!

Here’s what I thought of this game:

Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics

GameGenre# of PlayersScore
Super Mario StrikersSports (Soccer)1-4 Competitive (Local / Online)B
tl;drMario Strikers is a very good take on the sport of Soccer, though one that has aged quite considerably since its original release two decades ago. Despite this, it’s still well worth a try for fans of Mario’s more cartoony, arcadey style of Sports games.

I know many fans view the first game in the Mario Strikers series as the best, but I very much differ in that – I think its Wii sequel surpassed it, and it doesn’t help that its visuals have aged quite a lot since it was originally released, meaning that while it may have been amazing for its time, I actually think it’s the game I’d pick as the worst in its series. Still a very good game of Soccer, though.

tl;dr – The Nintendo GameCube app on Nintendo Switch 2 gets a fan favorite with the first game in the Mario Strikers series of Soccer games, though I personally think this game was topped by its two sequels. In any case, it’s still a good addition to the Nintendo GameCube app.
