Review:
Lunch Box Ready, released on mobile devices in 2022 and ported to Nintendo Switch in 2024, is a game where players organize lunch boxes for an endless line of… customers, I guess? I don’t know that “lunch box organization” is an actual job, but this game seems to treat it as one.
The presentation here is actually pretty decent, using 3D characters and food items, with the food generally looking pretty good, and the characters reasonably detailed, though the odd slightly cartoony style may be off-putting to some players. These visuals are backed by low-key jazzy background music that makes this a pretty chill experience, which works for the gameplay.
Well… it works for what passes as gameplay. Yeah, there’s very little to actually do here. Food always seems to have designated spots in the lunch boxes you’re provided, so this doesn’t really have puzzle elements, nor are you trying to arrange them in an aesthetically pleasing manner, apart from particular customers with a specific request, where you’re forced to make it exactly as directed.
As a result, Lunch Box Ready may have a decent presentation, but the gameplay is so shallow and pointless that I can’t see most players bothering with it for more than a few minutes before they grow bored. Don’t bother with this one.
tl;dr – Lunch Box Ready is a game where players arrange lunch boxes for customers, and while the presentation here is nice enough, the gameplay is shallow and pointless, with players being forced to do things as directed and with absolutely zero challenge. Don’t bother with this.
