Review:

Best Mobile Games 5-in-1, released on Nintendo Switch in 2023, is a Compilation containing five games, all previously released on Nintendo Switch from 2021 through 2023.

I have separately reviewed these games. Here is what I thought of each of the games in this collection:

GameGenre# of PlayersScore
Dig DeepIdle Game1-8 Competitive (Local)C
tl;drDig Deep is a family-friendly Idle Game where players dig down into square pits to get resources, and hire workers to assist with this effort. Unfortunately, the game progression here feels increasingly slow before long, and the “idle” part of the game doesn’t work when the game isn’t actively running. As Idle Games go, this one starts out feeling pretty compelling, but it doesn’t take too long before it just feels like you’re digging yourself a bigger hole.
Om Nom: RunAuto-Runner1-8 Competitive (Local, Local Split-Screen), Online LeaderboardsC+
tl;drOm Nom: Run is a behind-the-character Auto-Runner starring the little green creature from the Cut the Rope series. As games in this genre go, this game works well enough and is reasonably polished, but it doesn’t really do anything noteworthy to set itself apart. If you’re looking for an Auto-Runner you’ll probably be satisfied with this, but I doubt you’ll be ecstatic about it.
Pudding MonstersPuzzle1C+
tl;drPudding Monsters is a family-friendly block-sliding Puzzle (or slime-sliding, as it were) that can only be played in handheld mode using the touchscreen. The $5 price is decent for the amount of content here, and the puzzles are well-designed, albeit not very original. However, it definitely feels like very little effort has been made to transition this game from its original smartphone version, making one ask whether it might not be better to simply play that version of the game instead.
Run Sausage Run!Auto-Runner1-8 Competitive (Local)C
tl;drRun Sausage Run! is a side-scrolling Auto-Runner where players try to get an anthropomorphic sausage to safety. This game has one good idea, and that is that one button does two things – it speeds you up and makes you duck underneath high obstacles. Unfortunately, it does nothing with this gimmick, and in fact the randomized levels lack any kind of structure at all. This isn’t a terrible game, but it’s not a very good one either.
Sausage WarsArcade / Party Game1-4 Competitive (Local Split-Screen)C+
tl;drSausage Wars is an Arcade-style Party game where players take the role of anthropomorphic sausages trying to whack each other off the stage or into hazards. There’s some good visceral fun to be had here, but the gameplay is too repetitive and has far too many issues to make this last long before your party wants to move on to other things.

In short, none of these games is terrible, but none of them are especially good either. I think all of them can be enjoyable in short bursts, but they all wear out their welcome pretty quickly too.

Okay, but what about value? Well, each of these games is normally priced at $5, and this bundle is $20, making it only $5 in savings. For comparison’s sake, Sausage Bundle: Till the Last Drop of Ketchup, which contains two of these games, is $6, slashing 40% of the price. It seems pretty disappointing that buying more games means you’re getting a worse deal. When you’re looking at sale prices, it gets a bit better – then, this bundle’s $4 sale price means you’re basically getting all five games for the price of two, since the individual games all regularly drop to $2.

Overall, Best Mobile Games 5-in-1 is an “okay” bundle full of “okay” games. Nothing here is truly exceptional, and neither is the bundle price. I suppose if you already want most of these games the bundle isn’t a bad way to go, but I think there are better ways to spend your money.

tl;dr – Best Mobile Games 5-in-1 is a bundle containing Dig Deep, Om Nom: Run, Pudding Monsters, Run Sausage Run!, and Sausage Wars. None of these games are all that great, and the bundle pricing is also only so-so. You’ll probably get some enjoyment out of this bundle, but I think you’re better off spending your money elsewhere.

Grade: C
