Review:
Trash Punk & Food Truck Tycoon Black Friday Pack, released on Nintendo Switch in 2024, is a Compilation containing the two named games, previously released on Nintendo Switch in 2023 and 2019, respectively.
I have separately reviewed these games. Here is what I thought of each of the games in this collection:
| Game | Genre | # of Players | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trash Punk | 2-Stick Shooter | 1-2 Co-Op (Local) | C |
tl;drTrash Punk is a 2-Stick Shooter where players take the role of an armed anthropomorphic opossum, and while the core gameplay here is good, this game does nothing of note to build on that, making for a tedious, repetitive gameplay experience that can’t compete with the wealth of other great games in the genre on Nintendo Switch. | |||
| Food Truck Tycoon | Arcade | 1 | C+ |
tl;drFood Truck Tycoon is an Arcade-style game that doesn’t play much like Overcooked or Cooking Mama. It’s more like a food version of Simon Says, where players respond to orders by selecting the correct ingredients. The gameplay is decent, but this game lacks the variety and options of Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! If you’re looking for an Arcade-style food prep game, I recommend you get that one instead. | |||
In short, these are two very different games, but I don’t think either one is especially great. Food Truck Tycoon is probably the better of the two, but even then I think both games suffer one similar issue – you can find other games on the Nintendo Switch that do the same thing, but better. Why even get Trash Punk when you could be playing NeuroVoider or Enter the Gungeon? Why get Food Truck Tycoon when you could be playing Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!!?
Okay, but this is a bundle, so maybe at least you can find something worthwhile in the value on offer here? Well, that really depends when you’re looking at this, because when you’re not looking at sale prices, this bundle costs $2.50 more than buying the two individual games separately. You can partly blame Food Truck Tycoon for this – at $2.50, adding it to a bundle is barely adding much in terms of value.
At the very least, sale prices for both games and the bundle are all $2, so you’re much better off getting the bundle when there’s a sale, since that’s basically “buy one get one free”, a deal good enough that you should get this even if you only want one of these two games… at least, unless one of the other bundles these games are in is paired with another game you want more (and you should check, since there’s a bunch).
In the end, with the included games here not being great and with this bundle’s value fluctuating from “decent” to “rip-off”, Trash Punk & Food Truck Tycoon Black Friday Pack is simply not a bundle I can recommend. Just seek out the other, better games that both of the included games here stand in the shadow of. It may cost you a bit more than this bundle’s $2 sale price, but you’ll be playing those games a lot longer too.
tl;dr – Trash Punk & Food Truck Tycoon Black Friday Pack is a Compilation containing the two named games, both different types of games, but both standing in the shadow of other, much better games on Nintendo Switch. Plus, this bundle’s price fluctuates from “decent deal” to “total rip-off”, meaning there’s a good chance it’s not worth getting even if you want both these games. I suggest you shop around for a better deal… or perhaps just look for better games.
