Review:
Aero Cosmos is a simple family-friendly Arcade-style Flight Simulator released on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch in 2025, although “Flight Simulator” might be a bit misleading, since this is not in any way realistic, and “Arcade” implies challenge and trying to get a high score, neither of which you’ll find here. Rather, Aero Cosmos is a pretty chill experience where players move an aircraft around a three-dimensional debris field looking for glowing orbs, trying to collect all of them in each of the game’s levels before moving on to the next.
Without any scores or timers, this game’s goal structure seems pretty relaxed. You have no fuel to worry about, no enemies to fight, nothing forcing you to be fast or efficient. In fact, apart from collecting the orbs, your only concern is avoiding the rocks floating in the void so you don’t have a collision, but this isn’t any sort of great challenge. There’s no speed or complex controls to worry about here either – all you do is steer, and you’re constantly propelled forward, regardless of what direction you’re facing.
Well, there is one exception to this. Go in loops long enough and your camera’s orientation will cease to match your plane’s orientation, and at that point your controls won’t be quite so responsive. if this is the case, I find releasing the controls for a moment helps to correct them, though this is still an irritating requirement.
Apart from this, the main issue this game has is repetition. You’ll encounter debris fields with different colors, but apart from this they all look samey very quickly, without any noteworthy landmarks or themes. I honestly couldn’t even tell you how often this game reuses levels because everything looks the same.
That’s not to say they look bad. This game’s visuals use pretty simple 3D graphics, but the bright neon colors used give everything a psychedelic look that works well for this game’s otherworldly locales, and this is backed by repetitive trance music that works well with the game’s trippy visuals. On a side-note, this game’s plain, amateurish-looking main menu is the one part of the presentation that doesn’t work with the rest – it looks every bit as lazy and boring as the rest of the game aims to look fantastical.
For only $2.50, I can see Aero Cosmos being the sort of easygoing laid-back experience that some gamers will enjoy chilling out to, and if that’s what you’re looking for this isn’t a bad choice. But if what you want is an actual game with progression, goals, or any sort of feeling of real accomplishment, you’ll probably grow tired of this game quickly.
tl;dr – Aero Cosmos is a simple family-friendly Arcade-style Flight Simulator where you try to find glowing orbs in a 3D debris field. It’s a relaxed, trance-like experience, though one that’s repetitive and lacking any meaningful goal structure. Some players may find the relaxed vibe of this game worth the $2.50 price, but most will find the lack of structure, challenge, or variety will make them lose interest quickly.
