Review:
Gravity Oddity is an Action-Platformer and 2-Stick Shooter released in 2018 on PC, then ported to Nintendo Switch in 2021. In this game, players control a gun-wielding square trying to get through each of the game’s levels.
The presentation in Gravity Oddity is very simple, consisting of simple 2D lines and geometric shapes with a neon glow, in front of a flat black background, and backed by an energetic synthesized soundtrack. This all works, but doesn’t give the game anything distinct or memorable to set it apart.
The gameplay has players jumping, using a grappling hook, and swapping between three types of guns to take out enemies (mostly turret emplacements), and must use these to reach the end of the level.
Unfortunately, this game is plagued with numerous problems. The platforming is terrible, with a sluggish jump that’s often unresponsive and just keeps repeating when the button is held down, bullet sponge enemies, poorly thought-out level design, and glitches where your character gets stuck on the scenery for no reason. It all just feels poorly-made and frustrating.
There’s not too much else to say about Gravity Light – it doesn’t offer anything especially interesting to set it apart in the Action-Platformer genre, and what it does do is broken in numerous ways. Skip this one.
tl;dr – Gravity Light is an Action-Platformer and 2-Stick Shooter that has players getting through levels as a square with a gun. This game doesn’t do anything interesting enough to warrant a purchase, and what it does do is poorly-made and not worth your time.
