Review:
Waffle Kitty is a family-friendly Puzzle game released in 2025 on Nintendo Switch. In this game, players are trying to position various sweets on a waffle so none overlap, filling all empty spaces.
This is a pretty simple and straightforward Puzzle game, the likes of which you’ve surely seen plenty of times before, like a tangram puzzle but with blocky Tetris-like shapes instead of various geometric shapes. And here it works about as well as it does anywhere else, no more and no less.
The presentation is going to be the main selling point here, with this game’s colorful 2D visuals presenting some lovely hand-drawn art of various tasty treats. This is joined by upbeat and whimsical music that does a decent enough job of fitting the game’s laid-back tone, though there’s nothing here very memorable.
One complaint I’ll note here is that this game doesn’t support touchscreen controls, instead requiring the use of standard gamepad controls. These work okay, but they’re a bit stiff. However, the game isn’t timed so this doesn’t matter too much. Another complaint is that some of the odd treat shapes make it difficult to tell at a glance what spaces they take up and what they don’t… though again, not having a time limit mitigates this somewhat.
Oh, I also need to note that this being a Reddeer.Games title means this game is once again pulling that sleazy move where there are numerous versions of it on the eShop, but all of them are nearly-identical, just including different configurations of free DLC included with the game. So if you’re getting this game, just get whichever version is on sale and download the remaining DLC, no need to worry about getting the best version.
In the end, Waffle Kitty is a decent but not very noteworthy Puzzle game, with its one decent feature being its pleasant presentation. If you’re looking for a time-waster of a Puzzle game between more noteworthy games, this will get the job done. But don’t expect much more than that.
tl;dr – Waffle Kitty is a Puzzle game that has players trying to fit sweets onto waffles. This is a Puzzle game that plays like countless other similar games, and its one noteworthy feature is its nice presentation. If you want a time-waster, this should suffice, though don’t expect much more than that.
