Turtle Beach has been a designer of videogame accessories and particularly gaming and computer sound equipment for 50 years as of 2025, dating all the way back to the early days of home computers when they made sound cards and MIDI synthesizers. More recently, they’ve maintained multiple lines of products, including various gaming headsets.

Coming in close to the low end of their headsets is the Airlite. This model of wired stereo microphone headset uses a single 3.5mm jack for both its speakers and microphone, and comes in various styles and colors, which you can find priced in the range of $23-$28. The Nintendo Switch 2-branded headset isn’t specific to Nintendo products – it works with not only Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, but with any platform that uses this style of speaker/headset port.

However, since the Nintendo Switch 2 branding will likely draw the attention of Nintendo platform owners, the natural questions this leads to are not only how well this headset works, but how well it works specifically for Nintendo platforms.

I’ll start by sailing that this headset absolutely nails the essentials – the sound quality and microphone quality for this headset are both very good, regardless of whether you’re plugged into the console itself or the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller. I should note that even though the included instructions show the Pro Controller using a wired connection to the dock, this isn’t required for the headset to work – it works fine when using the Pro Controller in wireless mode too.

The cushioned speakers both feel comfortable, and the adjustable headband seemed sufficient enough for my use. The right front side of the headset has a volume adjustment wheel which I think I find preferable to having it on the cord since I don’t need to search for it, and the adjustable microphone works well too. This headset even has a clever feature that automatically mutes the mic when you flip it all the way up, something that’s simple and doesn’t leave you fidgeting with a switch to figure out if it’s on or off.

However, while there’s a lot to like here, there are definitely some issues. The wire connecting the headset is only 3 1/2′ long, which was sufficient but definitely felt restrictive, especially if I wanted to play the Nintendo Switch 2 in tabletop mode using the Joy-Con controllers. I also have to mention that with the Nintendo Switch 2 being capable of surround sound, it seems odd to me that a headset with Nintendo Switch 2 branding is only capable of stereo sound.

This brings me to my final complaint overall of the Turtle Beach Airlite Fit Wired Gaming Headset – given the features it offers, it just doesn’t seem competitively-priced compared to other headsets on the market. When I can spend a few dollars more to get a similar headset that’s well-rated and that does offer 7.1 surround sound, why on Earth wouldn’t I buy that headset instead?

Make no mistake, the Turtle Beach Airlite Fit Wired Gaming Headset presents players with a quality experience, but it’s hard not to look at its price and think that buyers are better off getting something else, especially if they have a Nintendo Switch 2 and want to try out all of its bells and whistles.

tl;dr – The Turtle Beach Airlite Fit Wired Gaming Headset, compatible with both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 (as well as various other platforms), is a wired 3.5mm stereo headset with an adjustable microphone with good sound quality, a comfortable fit, and a convenient flip-to-mute mic function. Unfortunately, for this price, I feel like you have better options on the market, particularly options that support surround sound, which this headset doesn’t have.
