The Weotoo Charging Grip is a Grip for your Joy-Con 2 controllers that advertises letting players plug in and charge their Joy-Con controllers while continuing to use them to play on their Nintendo Switch 2. This isn’t so unusual, both Nintendo and multiple third parties have released similar devices since the Nintendo Switch 2 launched. What sets Weotoo’s grip apart from the rest is its unique pie-shaped form factor. So, does this difference make for a better controller?

Let’s have a look…

Wetoo’s grip comes with a USB-C charging cable and the grip itself. The USB-C port is on the bottom of the grip, with two small LED lights (one for each side) that glow green when ready for charging or red while currently charging a Joy-Con 2 controller. These lights aren’t easy to see unless you tile the controller’s bottom toward you, which is a bit annoying if you want to quickly look down while playing to check your charge.

Also, even if you have the other end of the USB cable plugged into a Nintendo Switch 2 dock, you cannot sync controllers this way – you need to plug the Joy-Con 2 directly into the Nintendo Switch 2 to do that, which is a tad disappointing.

While holding the controller, you can wrap your fingers around the controller to grasp the inside, which is actually pretty comfortable for your fingers to hold. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the palms, which feel cramped against the Joy-Con 2s’ sides without anything to pad out the space.

If we’re comparing this directly to Nintendo’s charging grip, there’s one major positive and one negative here. For the positive, the price is less than half of what Nintendo’s asking for their grip. However, this grip also lacks the customizable buttons that Nintendo’s grip has.

So, do the benefits outweigh the downsides of the Weotoo Charging Grip? Well, I do think that you’re getting a better deal here than you get with Nintendo’s overpriced charging grip, but I’m not sure I can say the same for third-party grips, which I believe are likely to be more comfortable to hold than this grip is. I admire that with the pie shape, Weotoo is thinking outside of the box, but it doesn’t amount to much if the result is uncomfortable. Because of this, I suggest you shop around and find a similar product with a better form factor.

tl;dr – The Weotoo Charging Grip is a Grip for your Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Cons that allows you to charge them while playing. This isn’t a terrible low-cost alternative to Nintendo’s overpriced charging grip, but it’s feature poor and its unique form factor doesn’t result in a grip that’s more comfortable to hold. I suggest getting a different third-party grip instead.
