Review:
Eradicator Genesis is an Action-Platformer with 2-Stick Shooter elements released on Nintendo Switch in 2026. Set in a post-apocalyptic future, players fight against terrible machines and grotesque mutants as the gun-toting musclebound guy Cariri or the busty blonde girl… Virgin. Yeah, that’s her name.
The presentation uses a 2D pixel art style with a grungy retro look that’s evocative of games from the Super Nintendo generation, along with a chiptune soundtrack that fits right in with that look. One complaint I have here is that the character movements and animations look extremely stiff and limited – climbing ladders as your character doesn’t even have them moving. Another complaint? This game takes up an absurd 1.8GB of file storage space, which just isn’t justified by the presentation we’re looking at here.
While the presentation is delightfully nostalgic, the gameplay sadly doesn’t seem to have gotten the same level of love. The gameplay here is stiff, clunky, and repetitive. Your firing speed is agonizingly slow, jumping is terribly limited, and these combine with the clunky 8-directional aiming to make it difficult to hit enemies at angles. Hit detection for your character is poor, ladder-climbing is loose and bizarre, and if you get swarmed by enemies you’re basically dead.
I really wanted Eradicator Genesis to have some great old-school Action-Platformer gameplay to match its great presentation, but unfortunately what we’ve gotten here is simply terrible. This game is not worth your time or money, and if you’re looking for a great retro-style Action-Platformer, you have numerous better options on Nintendo Switch.
tl;dr – Eradicator Genesis is an Action-Platformer with 2-Stick Shooter mechanics set in a post-apocalyptic future where you fight robots and grotesque mutants. This game looks and sounds like a great retro-style game, but plays horribly, with clunky, slow, repetitive, poorly-crafted gameplay. Do not waste money on this.
