Review:
Modern War: Tank Battle is an Action Game released on Nintendo Switch in 2022, and as you might expect from the name, this game has you driving tanks in battlefields, often in unnamed contemporary cities.
Released a mere six months after World War: Tank Battle, it’s pretty clear that this is the exact same game but with different maps, different tanks, and a different soundtrack. As such, I’ll be copy-pasting my review of the prior game and changing what’s different here.
At the very least, the visuals this time don’t look quite as horrendous as the prior game, although they still look pretty terrible, with uninspired environments, heavy use of a brown filter, and terrible framerates. I do think this game’s electric guitar soundtrack is at least interesting, but once again we’re getting repeated chatter over the action of someone constantly saying “Roger… move out… Roger… Roger… retreat!… move out… Roger…”.
Unfortunately, once again, even if your sights are lined up perfectly when you fire a shot, you may still inexplicably miss for seemingly no reason. Add to this an overall lack of strategy, clunky controls, and very little in the way of options and customization, and you have an absolutely miserable tank game.
To be fair to Modern War: Tank Battle, I do think this is an improvement over the prior game, but only a marginal one, and I can see little reason why you would want to play this over other games on the Nintendo Switch like World of Tanks Blitz. Even if this game goes on sale for $2, don’t waste your money on it, play something else instead.
tl;dr – Modern War: Tank Battle is an absolutely horrendous Action game where players drive tanks with ugly visuals, poor controls, and overall terrible gameplay. Do not waste money on this.
