Review:
Michael’s Dream Adventure is a Platformer released in 2025 on Nintendo Switch where players take the role of an anthropomorphic bear who goes through various doors in his dreams, transforming into different animals to collect coins and stars.
The presentation here looks pretty terrible and amateurish. The game’s colorful 2D visuals mostly look simple and poorly-made, though there are some decent backgrounds. And everything looks repetitive. This is backed by upbeat music that I find a bit repetitive and irritating.
However, while the presentation isn’t great, it’s the gameplay that I feel really lets down Michael’s Dream Adventure. Movement is slippery and imprecise, animals you transform into need to make use of dash moves that have you zipping around far too fast to track, levels are simple and short, with mindless enemies. I suppose you could argue that the different animal transformations and their unique abilities give this game variety, but it hardly matters when none of them are fun to play as and at no point playing this game did I feel like I was enjoying any part of it.
I suppose its price tag under $3 may excuse somewhat the amateurish design of Michael’s Dream Adventure, but nothing excuses the joyless gameplay here. The Nintendo Switch has a ton of great Platformers on it, and I cannot see any reason you’d spend $3 on this game instead of saving that money and putting it toward an actual good game.
tl;dr – Michael’s Dream Adventure is a Platformer that puts players in the role of an anthropomorphic bear who transforms into other animals in his dreams. While these animals add variety into the game, that doesn’t really change how amateurish and poorly-made everything is, lacking anything I found to be enjoyable. Even with its low $3 price tag, I do not think this game is worth getting.
