When considering what carrying case to get, you generally want to start with the question of what sort of carrying case you’re looking for. Do you want a small case that will hold the hybrid console and not much else? A medium-size case that takes up a bigger amount of space but offers more storage for accessories? Or a large-size case that may not be the most convenient for carrying around but that will be better able to store all of your accessories?

However, it looks like manufacturer Joylink is seeking to make this first question easier to answer by offering a modular solution that ticks the first two of those three options – this is a two-part case that I would say fits the description of a medium-size case, but it consists of two parts that you can separate, with the part containing the Nintendo Switch 2 itself being small enough that it could be considered a small-size case.

From the outside, the Joylink case looks like one solid piece, with no obvious way to separate the two parts. Embedded in the firm braided nylon housing are two zippered compartments, a braided nylon handle with a rubber-like grip, and a place to clip on an included carrying strap, but no clasps or snaps or anything like that. This is because the two pieces are connected via a pair of internal velcro strips.

The velcro strips seem pretty firm, and hold the case together tightly until you deliberately pull them apart. It works wonderfully now, but I can’t help but wonder if that might change over time through use as the velcro wears down. The handle is connected to the larger of the two individual case pieces, and the smaller piece is partly housed within a slightly-recessed compartment, so hopefully this means less weight will be tugging on the velcro.

The smaller of the two compartments has a spot to house the Nintendo Switch 2 hybrid console with 2 attached Joy-Con controllers. I should note that this spot is specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2 – it’s the wrong size for the original Nintendo Switch, with analog sticks that won’t line up with the bumps in the casing for the sticks. Adding additional protection for the screen is fabric flap that closes with velcro and has spaces to house 14 Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 game cartridges. This flap keeps the Nintendo Switch 2 secure and ensures it won’t jostle around, and between the flap and the fairly firm braided nylon casing, the screen seems pretty well protected.

I should note that if you look at this section on its own as a small-size case, the game card flap and firm case make it take up a bit more space than some of the smallest Nintendo Switch 2 cases I’ve encountered, but for that tradeoff you’re getting the game storage and better protection for your Nintendo Switch 2 and its screen.

The second and larger compartment in this case contains two divided sections with braided nylon holding straps with velcro closures, as well as a mesh pouch. The divider between the two sections connects to the fabric interior as well, ensuring it can be moved to your liking. This kinda’ means that what you can hold in this really depends on what you’re looking to store – try to fit a huge Nintendo Switch 2 dock and AC adapter in here in the main compartment, and that’s probably all you’ll be holding in here, with the mesh compartment containing whatever’s left.

That said, we’re not talking about a large-size case here, this is a medium-size case. If you’re not trying to bring every last accessory here, you’ll have a decent amount of space to bring what you like. There’s more than enough space here for a smaller third-party dock, an AC adapter, a Pro Controller, and a few extra Joy-Con 2 controllers, USB cables, and HDMI cable. Or you can swap the Pro Controller for the standard Nintendo dock. Whichever way you go, you’ll likely have to pick and choose what goes and what stays, but you’ll have enough storage room here for most stuff.

In the end, is the Joylink All-in-One Carrying Case the perfect solution for all of your Nintendo Switch 2 storage needs? Not quite. It’s not big enough to house everything, and even its smallest component is still a bit bigger than the smallest of small-size Nintendo Switch 2 carrying cases. Plus, it’s unclear how reliable the velcro holding this together will continue to be through frequent use, wear and tear. In addition, it’s disappointing that this really isn’t designed to be used for both a Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. However, as an adaptable case, you have a lot of options here and it’s easy enough to swap from one case type to another. Unless you absolutely need a massive case for all your accessories, or the smallest possible case you can get, I think the Joylink All-in-One Carrying Case is going to be a superb choice.

tl;dr – The Joylink All-in-One Carrying Case is a Carrying Case for Nintendo Switch 2 that contains two connecting component parts, allowing you to use it as a small-size case or a medium-size case based on your needs at the moment. Both components here aren’t perfect, and depending on what you need this won’t be taking the place of the smallest cases out there or the largest ones. However, as an adaptable case, this gives Nintendo Switch 2 owners a lot of options, and I think most people will be very pleased with this.
