Review:

Frog in the Fog is an Arcade-style Platformer released in 2026 on Nintendo Switch. In this game, players control a frog jumping up an endless corridor filled with hazards, trying to make it as high as possible.

The presentation here is odd, using cartoony 2D visuals with an unsettling tone like your cartoony frog got trapped in some sort of macabre nightmare realm or something, with the “music” here, such as it is, being a more atmospheric sound befitting the game’s unsettling themes.

Having said that, the gameplay here seems pretty directly-inspired by the classic mobile game Doodle Jump, with your character endlessly jumping their way up the corridor, with a slight twist in that this game also has a 2-Stick Shooter mechanic. However, your ammunition is extremely limited for this mechanic, and your ammo doubles as an extra hit you can take, meaning you won’t want to expend all of your shots regardless.

This leaves the Doodle Jump part, and unfortunately it’s not done well here. There are too few platforms, meaning that you rarely have a choice of where to jump to next. There’s poor hit detection to deal with too. What’s more, the camera seems a bit too close to the action, not giving you a good view of what’s above and below you, which you’ll need when you get a boost that makes you suddenly jump higher and you need to avoid hazards speeding towards you now.

Personally, I think you’re better off just downloading Doodle Jump to your smartphone and playing that game instead. Frog in the Fog is a poor imitation with an odd presentation that doesn’t really fit the gameplay, and that gameplay simply isn’t done well here.

tl;dr – Frog in the Fog is an Arcade-style Platformer that has players controlling a frog jumping up an endless corridor. This game plays like a bad copycat of Doodle Jump with an unsettling dark presentation that doesn’t really fit the gameplay. You’re better off just downloading Doodle Jump on your smartphone and playing that instead.
