Review:

Supersonic Tank Cats is a Kart Racing game released in 2020 on PC and ported to Nintendo Switch in 2021. As the title indicates, this game has players controlling one of a variety of cats driving tanks on various race courses.

The presentation here is not great, using very simple, ultra-colorful, ugly-looking 3D visuals joined by a loud, abrasive synthesized soundtrack. I think this game is going for trying to capture a similar feel to memes like Nyan Cat, but it comes across as the game doing everything it can to try and give players a headache.

The gameplay isn’t much better. While to its credit the game does convey a good sense of speed, the controls aren’t very responsive, with everything feeling a bit on-rails and I can’t help but feel like there’s some rubber-banding going on here too. On top of this, the courses don’t seem very inspired and there’s not much variety in weapon pickups. This is without a doubt one of the most shoddily-made Kart Racers I’ve ever played.

I suppose I should also mention this game’s “Kitty Playground”, which seems like a sort of interactive Virtual Pet sort of thing, except it lacks any sort of depth or nuance, giving you only a few ways to interact with the robotic cats, and those will cease to hold your interest after about 10-15 seconds.

All in all, Supersonic Tank Cats is an absolutely terrible Kart Racing game, with an aggressively-bad presentation, poor controls, lacking depth, and little going in its favor beyond perhaps a meme-inspired presentation that may attract some players. However, even if you’re the sort of player who finds this game’s presentation and themes appealing, and are attracted by the small $5 price tag, I’d still strongly recommend you skip it.

tl;dr – Supersonic Tank Cats is a Kart Racing Game with a loud and obnoxious presentation with ugly visuals, terrible controls, and no depth to speak of. Even at its budget price, I strongly recommend you skip this one.
